Antica Erboristeria, founded in Rome 1960 by Michele Albergo, is a company specialised in haircolourings and haircare products based on herbal extracts.

Herbatint, its leading brand, is sold through Health Food Stores, Pharmacies, Natural Product and Herbalist shops in more than 40 countries.

The outstanding knowledge of the founder in medicinal herbs and his concern about environment and safety, led this pioneer to open a new era of natural based hair products, at that time when the industry world was dominated by harsh chemical based products.

Since its foundation the company manages a fully integrated process from R&D to production and marketing and believes in a sustainable driven development: the use of fully recyclable and FSC cardboard, a packaging designed for multiple uses, limit the impact on environment. The company is now in the process of obtaining the B Corp certification, as a commitment to its values and philosophy.

Antica Erboristeria applies internal procedures to guarantee a complete traceability from plant to product and adheres to the latest European standards and regulations.

In 2012 the company was taken over by Financiere Maconnaise, a French group specialised in natural cosmetics and food supplements, which firmly believes in the heritage of the brand and aims to support it with strong new investments in R&D, industrial technology and marketing. During the past years the company has been focusing its development on organic certified products and its new line will be launched in 2016.
